A11Y Collective

E-learning about digital accessibility

A11Y Collective is an online e-learning platform founded by Rotterdam WordPress agency Level Level. The name A11Y is a numeronym for accessibility, and the platform offers training on making websites more accessible for people with disabilities.

A11Y Collective wanted to share its expertise through a series of e-learning courses for web designers and developers. Valo was asked to support the recordings and guide the content creation process.

A fixed studio at the office

Because A11Y Collective wanted to record new courses regularly, a fixed studio at their own office was the most cost-effective solution. Valo built and equipped the studio, including the technical setup, in a lease model so there were no upfront equipment costs.

With a permanent setup, the office could be turned into a professional studio with coloured LED lighting within minutes.

Camera training and result

Teaching to camera without direct interaction takes practice. Valo provided camera training and recorded test videos so the trainers could build confidence.

The project resulted in a strong launch of e-learning as a new product and helped web designers and developers learn about accessibility at their own pace. It also supported a broader social goal: making websites more inclusive and accessible to everyone.
